Support respectful working relationships and constructive responses to discrimination, exclusion or inappropriate behaviour.

Community Safety & Engagement

Consider communication, assumptions, accessibility and community knowledge in prevention, protection and public engagement.

Recruitment, Progression & Representation

Explore potential barriers in attraction, recruitment, development and progression while maintaining fair processes.

Leadership & Accountability

Connect inclusive leadership with culture, professional behaviour, wellbeing and organisational priorities.

Who We Support

Operational crews, control and support staff, station and area managers, community safety and prevention teams, people and organisational development teams, training departments, senior leaders and governance groups.

How We Can Support Your Fire & Rescue Service

You may already know the training topic you need, or you may be exploring a wider EDI issue. We can help identify an appropriate starting point and tailor support to the roles, responsibilities and context involved.

Support can range from a single training session to a programme for different staff groups, or wider work reviewing EDI priorities, policies and organisational practice.

Tailored EDI Programmes

We can develop programmes that bring together different EDI topics for different audiences, connecting learning with leadership, service delivery, workforce practice and wider organisational priorities. Content can be adapted to your setting and delivered face-to-face or online via Zoom or Teams.

Operational Culture & Community Engagement

Training can use realistic Fire & Rescue scenarios to explore station culture, communication, assumptions, professional behaviour and how different communities may experience prevention, protection and engagement activity.

EDI Reviews, Strategy & Organisational Support

Support can extend beyond training. We can help review current practice, strengthen your EDI approach and identify practical priorities for further development.

EDI Review

Explore policies, practice, culture and available evidence to identify strengths, potential barriers and areas for development.

Policy & Practice Review

Consider how equality and inclusion are reflected in relevant policies and everyday practice.

EDI Strategy

Develop practical priorities and actions aligned with your organisation and wider responsibilities.

Ongoing Development

Use follow-up training, review and support to build on progress and respond to emerging priorities.

Equality, Inclusion & Organisational Responsibilities

The Equality Act 2010 provides an important framework for equality and discrimination in employment and service delivery. Fire & Rescue Services may also have public sector equality responsibilities alongside professional, governance, workforce and operational arrangements. Training and review support understanding and development but do not guarantee legal or regulatory compliance.

Good EDI practice is broader than legal compliance. It also involves culture, accessibility, representation, belonging, communication and whether people can access services, participate and progress without unnecessary barriers.

Where formal legal advice is required about a specific situation or obligation, appropriate specialist legal advice should be obtained.
